Getting frustrated, NSS issues?
So I have done the test, if I bypass the NSS the car will start and I am off down the road. I ordered a new NSS installed it along with new shift bushings and... a big NOTHING!! The only thing I gained was now I have reverse lights when I put it in gear and it shifts through the gears smoother. WHAT CAN I DO??!!??!!! I am tempted to hook up a push button started switch and just bypass the NSS all together. I would rather keep this as original as possible. The PO did manage to do a huge wiring nightmare but I can rule that out with the bypass test.
I am all ears Some car information. 1990 300E 2.6 |
What are the chances of a bad NSS that is brand new???

I did this replacement (with a Febi switch) about 2 years ago and the alignment took an eternity and the switch failed shortly thereafter. I replaced it with the original the OEM switch (which I thankfully saved) and it worked with no alignment and is still going strong today -- with just intermittent failures in Park during very cold weather. If you buy an MB switch, your problems will be solved. |
Thanks.
