94 e320 transmission Overload Protection Switch question

I am in the process of replacing this switch as a pin has broken off somehow. Anyone have an idea what this switch does? Also if anyone knows if the way it is plugged in matters? It doesn't have the usual mercedes grooved plug that allows one way only to plug in. Thanks in advance.

Sends signal to retard timing when that band (B1) is applied.

The electrical connection does not matter.
