1992 300CE starting issue

Morning folks. My coupe has started giving me a starting issue. 1st crank, fires right up and dies. 2nd crank, sounds like no fuel flowing, just engine turning over. 3rd crank, pump pedal, and it grinds and will finally catch, and after starting, runs ok. Suggestions?

thanks in advance

bighawk, if you're smelling gas from under the hood remove the air filter housing and inspect the EHA valve for leaks when the engine is cold. Otherwise, the engine heat evaporates any weeping gas.
