m103 eng, max rpm only 4000 indicated
 

Hi guys.I have a m103,with a 2.6 eng, and the car pulls hard to red line in third(auto) and when it upshifts to 4th. will not pull past 4000 rpm,4100-4200.and thats ways off redline is there a problem with governing by the ecu.pls shed some light on this for me.thanks:confused:

There is no governor, the fuel pump relay provides fuel cut off at 6350rpm IIRC....

4200rpm should be around 90mph? Are you sure its not just a slow acceleration from there?

Thanks for your input ps2cho,when that magic rpm is reached the car just sits there and goes no further,there must be something wrong.(does this transmission 722.409 the original? as i've replaced the transmission twice and o-hauled the present one thats installed.:confused:
