1995 e cabriolet with 180,000 miles is it a waste?

I found the car of my dreams. 1995 E320 cabriolet. Is this car a waste of time and money $10,000?

Waste of money, yes. But only for that particular car. The cabriolet's used to demand well over 10K some even pushing 15K, but now I am seeing many with under 100,000 miles in the under 10K range ($7-9). Shop around some more. The closer you get to under/around 100K, the better.

If the car were mint with impeccable records, maybe.
Look at eBay completed auctions for a baseline.

The cabriolets are going to be gold plated collectors items in the future, but they are bottoming out right now and there are lots of nice ones (or cheap ones) to choose from right now.

Lovely cars, I love mine.

doubt it's worth 10K in todays market. make sure biggie items are done. Wiring harness. The AC system has a penchant to break.. headgaskets I've had to do already and I've been told it's common. The top Hydro's have issues too. a Great guy to chat with is theDon. He has one and I believe has done some extensive work on it

Did you have it when I was there? They are the ONLY convertible I would own.

zeggate, suggest looking on autotrader.com for 1995 Cabriolets. As mentioned you should be able to find one with only 100k miles and in excellent condition (always garaged and regularly maintained) for $10,000. Take the time and effort to find the color combination you want. Also, have a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) done by a MB-trained tech who knows cabriolets regardless of appearance.

10k for that many miles. No way. More lie 5k. Plus at that mileage if the headgasket hasn't gone it will (if it hasn't been upgraded) I've got 110k on my cabrio now. I received it with 80k 2 years ago. I also have extensive records on my car,the updated headgasket, all rebuilt top. Hydraulics, new wiring harness and it's pretty clean. No idea what it's worth since I'm not selling.

Dealer retail on that car is about $5200 I'd say someone is living in fantasy land.

Thanks for the responses I will look for one with less miles and records ,records records and the work done on the wiring harness etc.

Lots of nice cars don't have records. It's better to focus on the condition of the car than the volume of the paperwork.
