w201 Economy Gauge

Can you install an older cluster w/the economy gauge in a 1993 190e?

The reason I bought my 2.3 is to save on gas, weather it's accurate or not, it'll make me feel better :)

My other ride is a AWD Sierra Denali with the 6.0L that gets 12mpg.

Of course you could, but would be easier to just get a vacuum gauge from auto parts store & install it instead.

All the connections, harnesses, etc are identical on a cluster with the econ gauge?

It's just a vacuum line? Where would I tie that vac line into? Intake Vac?

The economy gauge is functionally useless, unless you are tracking vacuum leaks. BMW had a similar "MPG" gauge that swung all over the gaddamned place and was also useless. Except MB was smart, and took it out of their cars a good 10-12 years before BMW decided to. If you want to save gas, don't go above 3500rpm.

I had for 23 years a 260E with a economy gauge (measuring the vaccum in the intake manifold) it is the best thing that helps to save fuel (-10% if slightly on the left of middle position, +10% on the right)

If I could I would install one on the newer car
