Conversion of mm to inches

I am drawing a blank. I am trying to convert 46mm to a inch socket I think I am at 1 and 15/16 or am I at 1 5/16. Damm it hurts when your brain is shot.

Divide by 25.4 to get inches.

Or multiply by .04, which will give 1.84 or 1-13/16 (close enough), you might get away using a 6 point 1-7/8 socket.

Isn’t it time to change to metric, we have it since 1816 and it works fine.

46mm sockets are not uncommon, why not just buy one?

If you worked on a Citroen, have fun with a 40.80mm socket used on one special set of four bolts torqued to 490 ft-lbs.

It took me a while to get that socket, they fit in a very tight spot!

google "mm to inch calculator" and you will find some quick ways to convert. Google is full of inks to various unit conversion calcs that will do the thinking for you

Thank you for the response. Some time the brain just clams up. I have a 46 mm but it is 1 inch and by the time I hook up an extension it would probably be easier with a 1/2 or 3/4 socket. Hopefully I can find a crowfoot in the proper size.

.044 should be correct... no that doesn't work.... brb

.0394 works closest... 1.812 inches which is almost exactly 1=13/16".
it's more like 1.8110...... big number...

Nah, we don't think it's time yet - just too early. We have lots of rulers and yardsticks still in inventory. Maybe in a couple hundred years.

We did change highway signs to dual and require dual/metric speedometers back in the '70s, but it proved to be too confusing, and the signs were changed back.

Funny we call it English units, when the Brits haven't used it as a standard since ??, and we do.

Ah ha perhaps you can explain why Dutch plumbing systems contain the strangest combination of metric and imperial connectors I've ever seen - more so than the English which is more or less metric now, and why when a baby is born in the Netherlands the weight is recorded in pounds and not kilograms?

(Please note: a Dutch pound is exactly equal to half a kilogram just to make things even more confusing)
