AC compressor leak repair success!

Just wanted to share my good fortune.

I posted awhile back about a pretty bad AC compressor leak on my '91 S-Class. I couldn't tell if it was the top cover seal or the big radial O-ring in the compressor body.
After some bad experiences with rebuilt compressors, I decided to risk some valuable R12 and replace the top plate seal, even though she has over 200k miles.

SUCCESS!

Popped the top plate off, replaced the flattened Oring-type seal, and shot in 3 cans of R12 & a little oiloil. Runs very quiet and smooth, and cools great in the not-so-hot weather so far. No trace of a leak, so I plan to shoot in the last 10 oz, and hopefully live happily ever after.

Those Nippondenso compressors must be pretty durable - 20 years in the Texas heat and still going strong.
