1992 300 CE car crash

Just had my son crash the 92 300CE that I have. Insurance company valued the car at $5900. Repairs supposedly are about $5600 and just had the head gasket work and valve job work done. New EZL just put in as well. Many extra parts and new wheels and tires.

Question: Is it worth buying the care back for $1K or do I take the hit and start all over again?

Any advise is appreciated.

i buy it back and use the parts for another ce..... expecially if you have a good interior...and working seat belt extenders, etc... you essentially have a new engine

doesnt' sound like too bad of an accident 5600 doesn't go far on those cars..

i am glad to hear your son is ok...or it appears that way.

Unfortunately, I am working out of state and my son did not take pictures. So I cannot do that, I am at the mercy of the insurance company.

If you don't/can't know the extent of the damage then just walk away.

Take the money and go on a nice vacation with your wife. Tell son to buy his own car now.

Norm, $5,900 sounds like a fair settlement for a 1992 300CE, depending on the condition and mileage. We're considering selling either our 1991 300CE or 1992 300CE and I would be satisfied to get $7,500 for either one, and they are both in excellent condition.

two years ago we paid 7k for a 1989 with 84k on it.

it was and remains in mint condition. It has a lot of upgrades including suspension, exhaust rims and tires.

look hard and you will find one...

Norm..

Ouch...
Most important that your son is not injured !!

If he upgrades including wheels and tires are worth more then $1K, then buy the car back and use the balance of $4900 to look for the same year in the best condition you can find...
Take the parts off of the wreck that you want and you'll still get about $300-$500 selling as a salvage vehicle.
