Help me price this 190

I am being offered an 89 190e 2.6

here is what I know....
no accidents, no rust, a/c shot, 240k miles, good tires, adult driven
needs-wheel bearings
needs- according to the owner, something that keeps the belt tight. tensioner perhaps?

questions- did this car come with a tbelt or tchain?

I will probably offer $500. The color is a boring yellowish cream

It all depends on the condition. It has a timing chain.

i just found out that it is the just the tensioner pulley that is going bad.

overall in fine shape.

all it needs is new wheel bearings, tensioner pulley and sunroof does not open.

i am thinking of selling the SL since I never get to drive it anyway

if it has cold air 500..otherwise it's a parts/scrap car

Lee,
Good advice. I am going to pass.

I need to get rid of this Benz addiction... Is there a help group for such an affliction?

Nope. Most of us have owned TENS of MBs. Eventually though, after going through ten or fifteen of them, you find the best ones and hang onto them.

My advice? Quit searching Craigslist and Ebay.

Sunroof = $1000
A/c >= $1000
Wheel bearings = $40 (DIY)
240k, with questionable maintanance = $$$$$$
More owners, more $$$$$$

I picked up an 89 for 700, really clean, dealer maintained till 2006, needed brakes (well, it needed brakes after I stomped on them test driving it and blew out a rear line), ac not cold, working sunroof, 285k miles, new battery, and a hitch for a small trailer. Did the brake work myself, new pads all around, new tires (who knows how old they were...)

Given I have a 16yr old learning how to drive, I figured this would be the learner and if he totals it he'll be safer than in my '59 Beetle or '79 Bus and I dont really care. He finally had it out on the highway and got to see just how fast it is (compared to two lanes with limits of 45). Big grin and a "Wow this is fun!"
