90 TE SLS Fluids

Just got my 90 300TE running this afternoon. There is a hydraulic reservoir on the drivers side, that I assume goes to the rear self leveling. What kind of fluid goes in there and how much? It also looks like a line runs from the P/S pump back to the hydraulics, so I'm confused about the reservoir.

Is regular ATF ok for the power steering fluid?

NO!
it's a different chemical compound than atf/ps fluid.
MB dealers stock the stuff for about 25/ 1/2 liter... you can order the febi replacement stuff here for 1/4 that price I think... call phil http://catalog.peachparts.com/item.wws?sku=W0133-1635777&itempk=76250&mfr=Febi&weight=2.05
you can also use tractor oil, iso46 NOT AW46!!! for about 12.00/gallon.

The ATF for power steering has to meet spec 236.2 according to my owners manual -
http://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/236.2_en.html
Febi is 27975

The sls is spec 343.0 http://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/343.0_en.html
Febi is 02615 (zhm)

cheers!

ATF should be OK for the power steering system. I see more 300E's with ATF than the clear-ish type PS fluid. My car has always had the clear variety, so that's what I buy.

Not sure about the SLS.
