97 E420 feels strangled over 4500 rpm - no codes

97 E420 feels strangled over 4500 rpm - no codes

Any thoughts? I replaced the sparkplugs and it made no difference. Car has 180kmi and mass air sensor/ O2 sensors were replaced 10kmi ago. I do not drive the car much any more and this seems to have crept up, but I could be wrong.
