1990 300TE: Flushing AC

Not sure what to call it, or what it does, but I have a muffler looking device that connects to the AC compressor. I am flushing all of the lines. Can I disconnect the "muffler" from the AC compressor and flush it?

I want to try and do this tonight, any thoughts on flushing the "muffler"?

Flushing the compressor manifold or the compressor itself?
If the later, never!! Remove compressor and turn by hand.

If your 300TE is R134a, take the opportunity, remove compressor hand turn it clean using new oil, replace receiver/drier, flush all lines minus expansion valve then fill with R12 and enjoy a much colder system. (and longer lasting compressor)

Regardless, you need to replace receiver/drier either way.

I guess i was not clear. I know not to flush the compressor, Dryer, and Exp valve. All have been removed. My question was, can/should I flush the "muffler" (compressor manifold)? Does not really matter now, I did not flush it, just blew compressed air thru to make sure no blockage. All back together and pulling vacuum.
