passenger key won't turn in door lock
Hi, All
As in the header, the passenger door can not be unlocked via the key. Key inserts OK but refuses to turn. I suspect that the lock does not fit the key (I'm not the first owner .....) Problem is - I can't get the key to turn the required 60 degrees to remoce the assembly. What am I to do ? I watched the locksmith use a vice grip ( ) on the ignition key when that essembly broke two weeks ago. Maybe I can do the same ? Any pointers on how to remove the assemly, replace with a new one (from a dealer or used) and even coding the lock ? any ideas will be most welcome TIA |
no need to
I had almost the same problem a while back , it was on the drivers side and the key was just plain stuck in there.
I wiggled the whole assembly around like crazy and finally got it out. It looked like the purpose of turning the key is to get hold of something to pull on not to put something in a specific position. |
locked out
If the key is the correct key try some lubricant ie silicon spray to free up the lock tumblers they can get stuck. Graffite is the correct lubricant for most locks but check with your MB dealer. Don't use WD40 as it is also a corrosive. (Dear ol Dad, was a locksmith for Sac State University for over 20 years)

and if lubrication does not help - or if it is the wrong key ?
