2004-06 V6, V8 owners
Just read an article in the "Truth about Cars" blog that said Mercedes is having trouble with a sintered steel timing chain gear on the M272 V6 and the M273 V8 cars built in the time frame of 2006-08. Maybe someone can verify this?

Was having trouble would be more accurate IMHO. I think most of the defective parts have already failed.

Sorry guys. It is the first I had ever heard of it and the fact it just showed up in TTAC led me to believe that it was a newer problem.

They're still failing. We had one through our shop about a month ago. About 8K$ worth of repairs.
