1987 Mercedes 300E Ignition Switch

I have a 1987 Mercedes 300E (gas). The ignition locked-up which I have learned is a very common problem.

I have a new housing, tumbler and switch. On the back of the switch are 7 places where wires plug on. They are numbered 30, 50, 15R, P30, 15, 30, 15X.

Because the original switch had locked, I couldn't turn the key to the right position so that the wire plug can come out of the ignition switch housing, therefore the wires had to be forced apart.

Do you have a list or diagram that tells which color coded wire goes to which number? Thanks for your help!

Ok, My ignition wires are the following colors:

2 Red wires
1 white w green stripe
1 white w yellow stripe
1 white w red stripe
1 purple w white stripe
1 green w white stripe

Clock wise on the switch the number code goes

30
15x
30
15
P30
15R
50

So what color wire goes where?

30 =
15x =
30 =
15 =
P30 =

Don't know if I can help you much. From looking at my w124 and w126 cd.

30-Batt volt; hot at all time.
50-Starter motor control.
15R- Batt Volt; ignition/starter switch in "Accy"(pos.1), "Run" (pos.2) or "Start"
P30-Power feed for R and L standing lamps; Batt volt w/ ignition/starter switch in "off" or "Accy" position.
15-Batt Volt; ignition/starter switch in "Run" (pos.2) of "Start"
15X-Batt Volt; ignition/starter switch in "Run" (Pos.2).

30-R (Your RED)
50-VI/WT ( your purple w white stripe)
15R-PK/YL (your white w yellow stripe)
P30-GN/WT (your green w white stripe)
15-PK/RD (your white w red stripe)
15X-PK/GN (your green w white stripe)

PS,the scan quality on electrical diagram of my w124 cd is very poor. I can't make out the terminal numbers, so I have to look at the W126 cd (which is much better). I would use the VOM to check the voltage at each terminal( from the description of the terminals at the top)
