W140 Fuel Filter Question
This is kind of dumb I know, but I figure I'd better be safe than sorry...
I'm getting ready to swap the fuel filter on my '97 S420. At 155,000 miles, I don't think it's ever been changed so I thought I'd pick one up and do it before it leaves me stranded somewhere. Anyway, I crawl under the far and find the old one is attached to the lines with those crimp-on hose clamps. Is it safe to replace those with some regular screw-on clamps or do I need to use something special? Second question: Since the filter is sitting on the suction side of the pump, I shouldn't have to worry about relieving the fuel pressure, right? Thanks guys!

you're correct on both questions-no special clamps, no pressure. there will be a flood, though, if you don't pinch the lines closed. good luck, chuck.

And no smoking for the duration. (you hail from Philip Morris country, so I figured the warning may be needed )

Cool. Thanks guys!
P.S. I'm a non-smoker, but I'll keep all the doors & windows open.
