W126 rear window shade problem, its stuck
When I bought my 91 560 SEL the shade was up but only because of a cable tie. I think it was the first thing I fixed on the Benz. Its been working great every since and I use it often.
But today I get in the car and it will not go down. I do not hear the motor run like it did when the nylon rope broke. All fuses look ok, but the fuse guide does not indicate which fuse is used. If I press the switch up or down, I do here a click in the sound system. But nothing happens. So it appears to be jammed. Unless there is a specific fuse location or a hidden one elsewhere. Or even some weird use of a relay that may have fried. Thoughts? I did find power at the switch. I do not recall the pins, but I have full voltage at the brown ground wire and the black wire with red stripe. And the switch lights up. I also took the switch apart, cleaned the contacts and lubricated it. No signs of damage, etc. I also took the top of the shade rod off. I can pull up on the shade a little (half inch) and it retracts until it hits the nylon. I have NOT tried to "force" the shade down yet in hope to move the gearing. |
