Transmission Governor Removal w126
 
1981 500SEL Euro w126 ,can the transmission governor be removed with the transmission still in place or must you remove the transmission form the car ?

I'm guessing 'cos the age of the car it is a 722.3 transmission but I don't know that for sure. If no one can help you'll find a serial number on the right hand side of the transmission stamped into the casing just above the oil pan...

If it is a 722.3 - it looks possible from the information in this PDF

Take a look at the second sheet of that PDF - it is towards the back end of the casing. So long as there isn't a big chunk of chassis in the way it looks like you could.
