Ohms, Kilo Ohms and CPS

My question is about reading Ohms vs. K Ohms. I admit to being an idiot about numbers, especially when anything but exactly the number I expect is showing up. This is the case with my search for no spark on my '91 300E 2.6.

FSM says the acceptable spec range for the CPS is 680 - 1200 Ohms. My digital multimeter gives a reading of 0.856 Kilo Ohms when I place the probes on 7 and 31D per the FSM. These correspond to the inner and outer contact points of the plug (into to the EZL).

So, since my DMM set at "Auto" to read the available Ohms lands at Kilo Ohms is because it can't find full Ohms. Right?

In other words my CPS is shot. Right?

.856 K Ohms is not equal to 680 - 1200 Ohms (Not = 856 Ohms)

Should have paid more attention in math class.
