ABS, ESP lights on my 02 clk 320

The ABS light come on when it rains and then goes away. Now it comes on an goes away everyday. Any thoughts. :)

There should be a fault code stored with the light coming on. My first step would be to scan for codes.

If you mean BAS, my first guess is the brake light switch. They fail often and it throws these codes.

A wheel speed sensor probably went bad. First step is to get the fault code read.

We had the same issue (BAS/ESP lights) in a Chrysler Pacifica that we own. The codes indicated that it was the steering angle sensor in the clockspring. Changed it and the lights went out. Check for codes.

Thanks guys, I will check the codes. Thanks again. I'm trying to sell my Benz and these crazy things keep happening. I rather they happen while I own the car. I wouldn't want the new owner have to deal with this. :D

Can I buy the brake switch from Peach Parts? :D

No yet, does the code reader have to be a Benz one? :)

compu_85 09-17-2011 09:50 PM

Yes. Don't replace anything till you know what the fault is.

Will the local Autozone be able to read the codes for me? :D

The Clk Man 10-18-2011 03:37 PM

Bump. :D

You'll need someone with a MB specific scan tool. Some brake shops might have one that will work.
