W126 late wheel center caps, updating...
1 Attachment(s)
On my 91 they are plain Jane plastic covers that pop-off. When I painted the wheels they turned out nice.
But on a 420 SEL that I originally tried to buy, they have been updated or the car had some factory option. I've attached a pic to show what I saw. The wheel sets themselves were the same as I have now. Basically I am looking to update from these plastic ones. But I do not know if they are pretty much universal or if there is a specific part number/series I should look at getting these from. Thanks. |
From what I have seen all the center caps are the same size and use the same mounting. I got a set of late caps with the chrome star to put onto my wheels.

I have seen them at MB dealers. There are two different types. One for early rims up to 1985, and the other for 1986-1991 wheels. I think they are around $20 each.

I saw three versions with high finish on display in the Local MB Dealer Parts display Case.
Top - Gloss Silver B66470202 Middle - Chrome B66470207 Bottom - Sterling Sliver B66470206 Attached is mobile 'phone picture, sorry about the quality. To be honest they all looked the same to me. James |

The B66470202 has a chrome ring and star with a painted silver background. The silver paint has metal flake in it just like a paint job. It is a little darker silver than the silver on one of my cars and if your car is painted silver (or have a painted wheel) I think this is a really nice choice. I was trying to match the wheel with the center ring and the B66470206 has the closest to the finish of the W140 polished aluminum wheel as the background to the chrome star and ring. It is the one that I decided to go with. |
