Climate Control Unit Problem W210
 

98 W210 Climate Control Unit no longer has light (back light of LCD). Only repair a new unit? Or is a bulb replacement possible? Or just stay in the dark until the rest of the unit fails?

Easy fix. Get a set of radio keys and pull the CCU out. Three (?) bulbs in back. I'd replace all three to save hassles down the road.

That was a very easy fix. I don't guess that the light bulb that is making poor contact to the left of the speedometer will be as EZ. It is on again, off again. My wife fixed it last week......... by hitting a good bump.

You'll need cluster removal hooks. Peachparts has the OEM hooks from MB for about $22. Bulbs with wire filaments often start lighting after a bump. When the bump causes the broken filament to touch it instantly 'welds' itself together. But it's weak and usually breaks soon after.
