'99 CLK320 Instrument Cluster

The information screen, at the bottom of the instrument cluster fades out soon after startup. Does this screen use bulbs, or does the entire cluster have to be replaced? Is a '98 CLK320 instrument cluster interchangable with a '99? Thanks in advance for any help!

That part of the cluster can be repaired..

Using a cluster from another car can cause issues on the network as the VIN of the cars won't match.
