92 300E 4matic cv boots
Anyone know of a cheaper way to replace the cv boots on the front of a 92 300E 4matic inner and outer? cost is over $100 bucks a side from my suppliers through the shop. One of the guys at work wants to replace all the boots up front but it looks cheaper to replace the hole axles with rebuilts. But he wants to keep the OE axles

I bought the banding tool myself and have used aftermarket boots on mine. The original equipment inner boots are crazy expensive. Using aftermarket boots doesn't top $100 for both sides. Note though that it is a real pain to get the inner tripod joint off if the Allen bolts are stuck. I ended up replacing the boots while leaving the inner joint housing in place and instead just pulling the tripod rollers out after cutting the old inner boot band and reinstalling it the same way. It is a little tricky getting the grease in there, but it gets the job done.
