Polishing glass
Anyone have any experience on polishing the window glass? My windshield has some pretty good scratches from the wipers. And the passenger front is scratched from what I assume is particulates on the rain seal. Then the back window has some weird random ones. Appear to be from wiping with something that caused a couple scratches.
Overall not anything out of the ordinary, but something I would like to address.

Polishing Glass - Jeweller's Rouge
I had some scratches on my 6.9 windscreen. I found a Jeweller that sold me some Rouge. Using it took some effort of the "elbow grease" variety but it did make an improvement.

Depending on how deep the scratches are, talcum powder and water have worked for me.

When Safelite put in my new windshield, they left the wiper blade loose so it scratched the windshield the first time I used the wipers. They sent a guy out with a cordless drill with a foam pad on it. He had some very fine dusty powder and used that with a little water. It took a long time but the scratch came out. So the moral of the story is don't ever use Safelite! The guy complained the whole time and said he wasn't getting paid to fix it. They also said their "complete" guarantee didn't include a new windshield...

Ceriun Oxide is the preferred polishing agent for glass, it's what's usually included in any of the higher priced kits available for working on glass. Use plenty of water and low speed to avoid problems with heat build up in a given area.

I once polished out a nasty windshield scratch with cerium oxide powder mixed with water and a special hard pad using my drill. It removed the scratch, but made a shallow depression in the glass that drove me nuts - way worse than the scratch itself. You could see it from a distance too, like a strange wavy spot. I ended up replacing the whole glass. The moral is if the scratch is very light, barely able to catch your fingernail, this will work, but anything deeper and the cure will be worse than the problem.

BonAmi works well also.
But, if you can feel the scratch with your fingernail, it's not likely fixable.
