Good Day Folks,
I decided to buy this 93 400E with 110K miles on it. The car drives great and has all the records. It has a PS fluid leak but the dealer said he will fix it and got it for $11K. Pretty much all the Mercedes I've owned in the last 12 yrs have been 5 or 6 cylinders. I fell for the awesome power (275HP) and handling ability of this car. It handles like a typical vintage Mercedes with that hard steering feel on the highway. I pretty much did all the maintenance on the 92 190E 2.6 I had earlier. This car has a ton of room to work with when compared to the 190E. Randy, Thanks for the lead, I got this from LAMotorcars in Richardson, TX. The owner was real nice and seemed very honest. The car looks great both inside & out. I can't believe how silent & smooth this engine is. I am not sure if I can get back to driving a 6 cylinder again. Thanks to all the folks for your advise & suggestions. smk_texas 93 400E 110K 86 BMW 325E 146K |

420 vs 320 or similar threads
Oops didn't noticed you had already bought,
Owned a nice 400E, recently sold it. Bought a 97 320 to replace it, didn't even think of a 420/430. Carman said it best. The 6 feels a whole lot better balanced. I'd suggest driving both before deciding. In addition, parts cost and availablilty are a lot better on the 6. Check the price on the caps and rotors on that 119. Yikes!!! The V8 cars are intoxicating though. On a 94 most of the V8 power cars had the nagging issues resolved. (Powers steering, brakes, idler pulleys, etc.) You really can't go wrong with either, by my opinion. Besides I really want a E55, but have to wait til I get the kids through college 1st. Mike |
