Well, the CL post is gone. Either sold or the owner got tired of all of us asking questions

In the larger scheme of things a well presented car like that one seemed to be is worth more than $3k. Anything well kept with no stories and reliable is worth at least $3k in my book. I don't care if it's a Camaro or a Benz. If it requires no immediate work and looks good? It has utility value- not to mention finding a W124 that is still in one piece is saying something.

I for one will pay extra for a nice car, just to save time. These things are getting rare to find in serviceable condition.

Below that you are in the discarded car territory- and I don't mean MBZ, but anything.

I could see an owner telling everyone to "eat it" concerning the questions on the harness, and all that. If it's running good and no apparent problems why would anyone bother to consider those things an issue? I wouldn't talk to anyone accusing me of problems with my car that frankly aren't there.

Certainly sold tho.

JMHO.

It's a $2800 car fer petes sake. Does it run and drive OK with no engine knocks and a smooth idle, no soft or harsh shifts in the tranny, no puddles of fluid underneath, does it stop reasonably well without shakes or vibrations, does it steer fairly tight without wandering, does the A/C work? That stuff you can check yourself. It’s a 15+ year old car and I can just about guaranty that if you take it in to a shop, MB or indy, they’re going to hand you a list of $5,000 of work they want to do to the car. Maybe one third of the stuff on that list is legit which you should probably be able to fix yourself for $200-$300 in parts. If you can’t do the work yourself, you should either be rich (which in that case you wouldn’t be looking at a 15 year old car) or be shopping for a Toyota.
