Just make sure the A/C works, and be alert for flaring between shifts. If no A/C you can deduct ~1K for a new condenser, etc. Otherwise, very few would dispute the solid value and quality of a 124 car, if the car is rust free and runs well it's certainly a $3K car.

If the car has service records and appears to be well taken care of then it would be a good buy if it checks out okay. Make sure the wiring harness has been replaced. Definitely make sure the A/C is functional.

I thought the wiring issue was only for 1992 and 1993 only? no?

They had problems with them until 1995-1996 or so.

wiring harness affects 1993-1995 HFM cars.

1993 W124's are 300E 2.8 and 300E (3.2)
1994-1995 cars are E320

In the larger scheme of things a well presented car like that one seemed to be is worth more than $3k. Anything well kept with no stories and reliable is worth at least $3k in my book. I don't care if it's a Camaro or a Benz. If it requires no immediate work and looks good? It has utility value- not to mention finding a W124 that is still in one piece is saying something.

I for one will pay extra for a nice car, just to save time. These things are getting rare to find in serviceable condition.

Below that you are in the discarded car territory- and I don't mean MBZ, but anything.

I could see an owner telling everyone to "eat it" concerning the questions on the harness, and all that. If it's running good and no apparent problems why would anyone bother to consider those things an issue? I wouldn't talk to anyone accusing me of problems with my car that frankly aren't there.

Certainly sold tho.

JMHO.
