hello Throne7,

I have a 95 w124 wagon and I didn't have to remove either right/left vent. I just fashioned two 8" steel coat hanger rods bent a small "u" shaped hook with some needle noise pliers. I thought it would mar or scratch the soft material around the cluster but it didn't...if your carefull. Just take the two hooks (you can actually buy nice official ones too) and slide them to the right and left of the cluster and rotate them until they catch the lip of the cluster.....then pull somewhat hard and steady with a rocking left to right and it should release. Almost feels glued or suctioned cupped in the first time....hope this helps.
