190d w201 squeeecky after new shocks

I put on 4 new shocks two weeks ago (Bilstein Comfort). All is well for two weeks then then a squeek comes from the rear passenger area.

Initially, I thought I would just tighten the top bolt. No joy.

When I press on the bumper, there is a definite squeek.

I will take the shock off this weekend but in the meantime, do you guys have any idea what it might be? I noticed the the plastic 'mud guard' tube fits pretty snuggly against the car but I doubt that is it.

Any tips are appreciated.

any combination of bushings in the back, probably started squeaking when the new shocks raised the vehicle slightly upsetting the "set" the bushings took on.

It's a sign you may be approaching new bushing time. Check the sway bar mounts, etc look closely to see how many look squished out.
