ok guys here we go again....

left car parked for 3 weeks.....1987 420sel

so today am running around and went to car to make sure okay and then tried to start it...guess what...it started.....

so i revved her and tossed in gear...went around the corner and then died.....

got off road mostly...so ok....(in a small small town)

when i turned the key and went back to hear the fuel pump whirring....no noise

so fuel pump or fuse or relay....where is the fuel pump relay located and what fuse in the fusebox?

the fuel pumps do not run when the car is off, they come on for about 1-2 seconds when the key is placed in position 2, then turn off until you attempt to start the car

relay is under the hood ,just to the right of brake booster , two rectangular looking boxes, one is the fuel pump relay other is the climate control relay , fuel pump relay has a number that starts with 003 545 25 05 , bridge 87 and 30 circuit and pumps should run, these are the 3rd pins if you lift relay and read designations, connect amp meter to make sure there within specs , the one relay supplys both pumps , sometimes 1 pump fails causing the other to work erratically dropping voltage etc.
