'92 300E 2.6 - What type of Brakes.....

....for the rear? I need a new right rear caliper (which I will, of course, purchase from PeachParts) but the parts look-up shows two right rear calipers, one an ATE and the other a Bendix. How can I tell which one I have so's I can order the proper caliper?

Your original caliper will have either name cast into it, though not clearly, but visable on inspection.

OKAY! I can look and see it............

........but probably have to go ahead and pull the old caliper to do so. DARN, I guess I'll just have to drive the 400E until I get the NEW caliper installed.....or maybe the Wife-type-person will let me drive the SLK? Decisions, Decisions!
But, tell me, is there REALLY any actual difference in the two, between the ATE and the Bendix? Reason I ask is that I supposedly have a pic of each of them and I can't for the life of me tell the difference? Expiring minds like mine need to know.
Thanks for your reply!

DAMN! I was going to purchase my caliper from FastLane/PeachParts, until I found out that they want $33.33 to ship a 4 lb. caliper and 4 of the small brake pads (probably another 2 lbs) to Texas. Heck, I can get the caliper and the pads all in a Priority Mail small flat rate box for FIVE BUCKS and send it anywhere in the USofA. THIRTY-THREE dollars. Geeez, guys? Come on.

The brand will be on the front face of the caliper, visible if you remove the wheel. At least it was on ours.
