1984 Mercedes Benz 280SE
Hi, I have a 1984 280SE, and there is a problem when I am trying to start the vehicle. It take a long time for the engine to fire, and there is a strong smell of gas when I am cranking the motor. It seems to start fine when it is cold out, but if it is warm, it doesn't want to start. If anyone has some advice I could use, I would appreciate it.
Also, is this a European model? I have been searching for parts, but I'm having trouble locating them. Thanks, Joe |
Yes, that is a european model. I'd imagine most normal CIS diagnostics would apply.

Thanks. I am still trying to figure out the starting issue. It started today without a problem, but it is also less than 32 degrees. Do you know if there could be an electrical problem, or an issue with the fuel system?

Well...
Lashed the valves lately? New cap? New rotor? Proper plugs in it? How old is the wire set? How old are the rubber bits associated with the CIS system? You are not giving us much to go by here. |
