M119 spark plug wire order

Hi all,

I removed the spark plug wires on my car but neglected to write down the order because I thought it'd be clearly marked on the plastic cover for the distributor caps. However, when I went to look at it, they're all labelled as such:

R4/L5 R6/L8

L2/R1 L3/R7

I thought they would be labelled like: R2/4/6/8 L1/3/5/7, and I know several wires cross over, but now I'm stumped. Can anyone help (car is a 1994 E420, not that it should matter)?

Thanks!!

You're being kind of picky about this. It's all there, in the first case if the cap is on the right (R) it's cylinder 4, if on the left (L) it's cylinder 5 and so forth. The cylinders are number front to back, right (passenger) side 1 to 4, left side 5 to 8. In other words the firing order of 1 5 4 8 6 3 7 2 is 1 4 6 7 on the right and 5 8 3 2 on the left.

Thanks for your prompt reply. One last question: does it matter which side I run wires to from a given point on a cap? For example, if I run a plug wire from R4/L5 on the passenger side dist cap, does it matter if I run it to the second cylinder on the passenger side or the first on the driver side? And yes I am kinda picky (sorry! :o )

It matters very much. If you're on the right side R4/L5 has to go to cylinder 4, the rear cylinder on the right/passenger side. When you're on the left side it has to go to cylinder 5, the front cylinder on the left/driver side.

OK so there's no crossing over? i.e. all wires from the distributor cap on the left side go to the left cylinder bank?

No, it's two and two. Go back and read your thread.
