				420 SEl instrument cluster out!

Hello out there! The instrument cluster went out on my 90' 420 SEL. I started the car a few weeks ago and the fuel, temp, oil pres and speedometer were all dead. I pulled all the fuses to make sure they were not blown and making good contact and the instrument cluster started working again. This time it is out for good. I Did the same thing with the fuses and nothing, and now, my brake lights are out as well. All fuses are ok...Any thoughts would be kindly appreciated. Thanks |

OVP or OVP fuse may be the problem.

Its may be near the brake booster (inboard) on the back firewall. Small cover, mine is clear. Uses a "U.S." style fuse. 10 amps ONLY.

				Fuse intact

Hi Lyl, I checked the fuse and it is ok. I was thinking it could be the OVP relay but wouldn't the fuse have blown if there was any problem in the circuitry? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks |

Could be any number of things. I am not sure about the OVP relay being the problem, but they can go bad. Maybe take yours apart and decide if you want to refresh it. I re-soldered mine, it was pretty bad.
