'86 230E how to put the wiper back!
Hello there. I hope someone can help me with this.
It might be something really stupid but I can't find a way to click the mono wiper back into its place after I pulled it up to clean the window. There must be a way to click it back but I don't want to force it in and break something. Please help..:( '86 230E |
Well, force it but don't break anything!
There really is no trick. If you just pulled it up and it clicked in to place, you just push it back. Only suggestion I can make is if you are afraid you might break the windshield, take a big stack of old towels and put them on the windshield underneath where the wiper will hit the glass. |
Thanks Gilly, I shall try that tomorrow first thing. I'll report back.
cheers |
A good shove is usual to push it back down. The click that you heard when lifting the wiper arm up is just the retaining spring engaging.

Wow, it worked! :)
I guess I am used to trouble shooting/fixing gentle electronic equipment and disregarded the potential usefulness of brute force in this case. :D It was pretty hard though, it must be the age showing. So I am glad I took the towel on the windshield advice. |
You are right though, it shouldn't be that you feel you are going to damage the arm, possibly a few shots of a spray lube under the arm is in order sometime. Glad you got it. I know there were a few times in my professional career I wish I had grabbed some towels!
