1995 E420 radiator overflow nipple

Here's the problem. The angled nipple on the radiator that is attached to the hose that leads to the expansion tank is broken. Is there a way to completely replace the nipple. I'm not looking for quick fixes, but rather the replacement part.

Radiator nipple

I remember seeing something in the service manual about that I think it involves getting at it by removing the top radiator hose and replacing the entire plastic elbow looking part check if fast lane lists a part if not call the dealer

Thanks. I saw the piece somewhere, but wasn't quite sure how to change it out.

Fastlane has it, calls it a radiator fitting. You can just pull it out from the top but then the bottom piece, that's broken off, will fall into the radiator. I've never heard of this having catastrophic implications but take off the top radiator hose just below it and you should be able to catch it before it falls.

Removing Radiator Fitting

Be certain to work on the system when it is completely cool, not warm at all. I suggest letting it cool overnight; otherwise, you may get burned.

A closed end wrench through the upper hose connection and then over the fitting with an upward pressure should compress the fitting enough to remove it without breaking anything. If you slide a closed end wrench (8 mm? IIRC) over the new fitting before installing it you will see how it compresses the fitting to allow removal of the old one.

The radiator necks are fragile, be gentle with the hose removal/installation so that it does not break.

I played around with a few at my local PNP earlier today. Pushing up and pulling up at the same time is a must.
