W124 interior swap - window trim

OK maybe I need my head examined, but I'm thinking of doing a full interior swap on the 400E I just picked up. It came with a tan interior and the parts car I have has a grey interior that is actually in slightly better condition.

Anybody else do this?

There are excellent threads on headliner removal, seat removal, door cards, etc. The think I have not found is info on the window frame trim. Anyone have any advise or pointers? Are they glued on or just snapped in place, does it all become obvious if/when you remove the door weatherstripping? Figure they must get swapped in body shops when doors get replaced.

Any other advise on a full interior transplant?

Thanks
Paul

If you get no response from the guys who really know just remove the ones you don't intend to save before you start on the good parts.

They are very easy to change - I've done it myself. The only thing holding them in is the rubber overlap from the door seal. Just tuck it under with the new installation.

thanks, I'll check it out whenever I start stripping the interior from the parts car.

For ref here is a lousy cell phone picture of the trim pieces in question.

That looks like palomino. If you want help switching it out I'll do it for your old trim. I think mine are worse that your bad ones.

Yep, that's it. No glue. Just held in by seal and shape. Easy as pie.
