Brake hose question

Can anybody tell me whether the nipple on a brake hose has to go all the way into the caliper? I'm asking because I screwed the Febi, brake hoses I just got into the rear caliper of my 380sl as far they'll go, but there's still 1 or 2 threads showing, and I didn't look real closely at the old ones. However, the part #'s on the hoses are correct.

Plus, I just got a rebuilt NAPA caliper, and there's 2-3 threads showing on that hose -- even though the caliper has the MB logo on it, and everything on else is identical to the old one.

Thanks in advance for the help.

well is it a taper fitting or dose it have a copper washer? The style with the copper washer has to fit tight to prevent leaking, But the other kind is a pipe fitting and that just means that it goes till it stops. The trick is not to force this type for fear of stripping threads.

I guess it is a pipe fitting, since there's no washer, and the front hoses don't go in all the way.

Thanks for the confirmation.:)
