CLK430 A/C oil

Hi,

I am replacing the A/C compressor on the wife's clk430 soon, as the old compressor is leaking oil. I know the normal procedure is to drain and measure the old compressor's oil to know how much to use in the new compressor. Since the old compressor is leaky, I am thinking that this is not enough. Does anybody know how much oil should be added?

I have been able to find that the drier replacement should take 1.7oz, but the compressor is still a concern.

thanks in advance.

Initial fill for the compressor is listed at 120 cc (4 oz), but then it says "additional oil fill when replacing compressor 20cc". Maybe the additional is for what's in the lnes when replacing??

Where didyou see the 1.7 oz? Alldata lists 10 cc, which I think is .33 oz.

On most MB Nippondenso compressor replacements....

3.5-4Oz of PAG 46 oil is needed, unless the compressor has a fill of oil.

Thank you both very much! I can't find where the 1.7 figure came from now, but I did find information supporting your numbers. It is a rebuilt unit going in, so I will verify the oil level. What is the school of thought regarding the dryer and pre-oiling it? It sounds as thought the little bit extra in the new compressor gets pumped to the drier? I know the tech who supervised the job on my BMW advised prefilling the dryer with a small amount, though it does not really make sense to me...

My whole A/C system is flushed, and i rebuild the compressor myself.
So there is no oil in the system.
Now i need to add 120ml oil to the system.
How to do this the best?

I'm afraid adding 120ml (4oz) oil to the pump, it will hydro-lock it?
So i added 60(2oz) oil to the pump.
And i want to add the remaining 60ml to the rest of the system.
10ml in the dryer
20ml in the condenser
20ml in the evaporator
10ml in the A/C hose.

Is this a good way to do it?

Are you putting in R134A? R134A is going to be needed to finish the job.
