Should I do the timing chain again? 1985 500SL

Its hard to believe, but its been 10 years since the valve job, timing chain, guides and tensioners were done on my 1985 500SL. Mileage at the time was 111,000. Now she sits at almost 130,000.

Even though its been 10 years, would you be worried about doing it after only 19,000 miles?

Not needed yet.

If you want to be anal about it, maybe the guides. I wouldn't lose any sleep about it until they are old enough to go to high school.

With that few miles driven on the new chain I would wait another 10 years before doing it again unless you put a ton of miles on in that time.

Yes, schedule it for 2019.

Ya, unlike a belt a chain does not wear with time, just miles.

Change it again only if you want to gain more experience.
