where is the weight???
Does anyone know what specifically made
the Euro 190-16v a few hundred (200-300) lbs. lighter than the American version? Owning one, and having owned the other in the past, I'm really curious. -Adam |
I presume a lot of weight is in the bumpers. More weight in the side impact beams in the doors. Could also be some contribution from standard features. The listed Euro car weight might not inlcude AC, power seats, sunroof, etc. that would be standard in a US car.

Your right, my American cossy has power seats whereas the gray market one didn't. I also don't remember the doors feeling as heavy on the Euro version. Nice insight.

Actually, it was the US version that had the side impact door beams... thus making the US doors heavier!

Leave it to U.S. standards to slow down a blitzkrieg!

All the items listed had weight effect on the US model. PLUS on our cars there was a bit more sound deading material added.
EVEN on 8 valve 190E's (US models) from one year to another the weight increased. Iwould think that the SRS system added at least 10 - 15 lbs as well. |
