Power window refuses to stop

The driver's door power window on my 1995 E320T makes an awful noise when it fully closes and you do not let go of the switch. This happens also when closing all the windows with the comfort feature.

The motor keeps moving and a loud continuous tack sound is heard from the mechanism inside the door.

There is no problem when the window is opened.

What could be causing the problem and how may I fix it?

Thank you in advance for the input.

windex

My w126 300SE recently had a similar problem.
Do a search on the archives.

My indow regulator had to be replaced. Some of the teeth were shot. The sheetmetal frame onto which the regualtor is bolted bends a bit outward when the window is closed too tight.
This can cause a tearin that area. That can be expensive.
Open up the door panel and inspect .
For the time being, just roll up the affected windows slightly snug then tap it in until no wind noise is heard.
No need to jam it all the way up, sp. with an automatic
system.

Simple cause may be dirty-sticky window guides.

Don't let it go!!
good luck

Thank you very much for your answer.

It sounds like the frame is bent as you mention. I'll inspect the guides this weekend and find out.
