Oil Cap on M104, 1995 SL320
 

I am wanting to change oil for the first time since I bought this car. It has a plastic cap for the oil filter similar to the cap that was on 1999 E300 that I had, however there is not a hex feature on top to put a socket on to remove the cap....what tool do I use to remove the oil filter cap? Thank you in advance.

i just wait until this engine cools and unscrew it by hand....

just did it today on my 1995 e320 104

The mercedes tool is cup shaped and matches the small indentations of the filter cap. FWIW, it also matches the similar sized canister filters. If the previous tech changed the o-rings and used the tool, you may not be able to loosen it by hand.
