Oil Level sensor in oil pan
4 Attachment(s)
I changed the oil level sensor in the oil pan in my 95 E 320 and wanted to share a few pictures.
This is a relative easy job and my my recommendation is to do it if possible during an oil change, otherwise you will loose a few quarts of oil. Disconnect battery as always. Located oil level sensor on side of oil pan next to the nut for the oil change in the E 320 model. Take the two bolts out holding sensor, replaced with new sensor bolt down, connect wire, and is done. Like I said if you are not planning to empty the oil pan then have a container underneath because you will loose some oil |
Was the old one making your low oil light come on frequently?

No my light did not came on or off there was no flickering, it just stop working the connection plastic, outside where it connect to the lower wiring harness just starting to fall of I believe the whole unit just stop working. My car has over 164 + K and this parts sooner or later will fail. In your case it could be that the electrical wiring harness at the connection is comming loose or apart or it could be your lower engine harness wire maybe falling apart causing shorting of wires so check your wires first.
