European 1980 380SE

Hi All,

I came accross this car, and as typical, went ahead and bought it (cheaply) before fully researching it:o. Anyway I really like the car, and want to do a tune up, check Jetronic function, ect. But can't seem to find any manuals online. I figured I'd get a UK manual set or something along those lines, but no luck. At any rate, can someone point me to a source for euro manuals, or failing that, point me to, or let me know if there are any tune up or jetronic differences between the euro M116.963, and the version in the 1981 US market 380SEL's?

Thanks a bunch.

First thing to check is that the timing chain has been converted to double row, early 380's had a single row chain which WILL fail. Look through the oil fill cap at the chain, if its not a double row of links, it needs to be converted asap.

Primary differences between US and Euro are the exhaust, fuel settings/components/power output. Physically they are mostly the same. A euro 380 will have quite a bit more power than a US model.

Thanks for the response!

I ended up finding finding a Mercedes service book: "1981 Technical Data Passenger Cars." It has all the data for 107, 116, 123, and 126, in all markets, 1981 and back a few years, so it fills the gap between the US market books and this car. It's an awsome book!
