Inside the box: Automatic Climate Control Push Button Unit. 560SEL W126.039
Hey everyone,
A friend of mine is stripped out a 560SEL. So I decided to examine some of the electronics: Here is the teardown of a climate control unit. http://i.imgur.com/HcuC7l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/kAw8zl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/hI6d8l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/jLGW7l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Yco13l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/BH6Q6l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/zVIUal.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ePs6ql.jpg http://i.imgur.com/w2zVxl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/XnjLgl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/xiU0Ul.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wvK7Ol.jpg http://i.imgur.com/AmfvZl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/MczShl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/0634Dl.jpg |
So are the backlight bulbs built in?
I think the pot for the temp wheel is dirty on mine... should take it apart and clean it. -J |

There are only two. They can be seen from the front view of the unit. They appear to be replaceable from the front. A straw-like tool to pull them out and install them. I think thats how the 124 ones get replaced. I think I've seen write ups. I need to take my dad's SD's wheel out and clean it. Its pretty hard to roll. |
Did you notice how the intermediate fan speed button does nothing except disconnect the minimum and maximum speed buttons? It makes no electrical connection. In other words, not pushing any of the three buttons is just the same as pushing the intermediate speed button.

Hmm. I didnt even think about checking that. I did see that ribbon cable connecting from the button assembly down to the PCB.

Just pulled 2 CCU's from a local pick and pull. Both work so far.
|
The lighting for the temperature wheel is dim on one of the ccu's pulled. Both lights on the front of the panel work but only the wheel is dim. Any ideas?
|
Probably a dirty wheel or broken waveguide/optics. Look around in there, you should see a guide that runs over to the wheel area.

Thanks!
I kinda thought the same but you actually took one apart already. Cruise control unit you reconditioned for me running well! |
