On my Vista machine the "on line verification" is enabled, on my Win 7 it is not if that helps. Also in the java control panel under the Security tab then trusted certificates this is what I show; if you have any delete them since they may be the "bad" ones. |

I'm not a computer person but I do think it is a JRE 7 issue. Now when EPC opens I still see the Java 7 icon but I disabled JRE 1.7.
I fumbled through this after reading on other MB forums that it was a Java 7 issue, which is partly correct. This site got me pointed in the right direction Weird Windows Fixes: Java Error: "Failed to validate certificate. The application will not be executed." I think my XP machine never had the problem because it never ran JRE 1.7. If you disable JRE 1.7 it should just an issue of clearing out the old bad certificates. I don't know if you need a certain build of JRE 1.6. Check all your setting in the Java Control Panel in the Advanced Tab under general. You may have to play around there. I did email the EPC earlier when I could not get it to work. If they ever respond I will tell them that it is a JRE issue and in particular JRE 1.7 does not work with the EPC. You should see this in the control panel java tab and click view |

Having exact same error as OP here too. Haven't been able to open the EPC in over 3 weeks now.
Both on my main W7, and laptop /w W7, so it seems its a system wide java issue.

It is a java issue in particular a JRE issue. Going back to a 1.6 version should do it. At one point I uninstalled java 7 with no change. It's JRE dump your 1.7 and work from there. Last edited by vexed; 11-23-2012 at 11:40 PM. |

What do I do if in the java panel 1.7 doesn't allow me to remove it? I'm guessing since its the only one in there?

Sorry guys was busy moving and only had time to check the forum again today.
I tried the solution described in the linked article but still got the error. My laptop just asked me to update java, did that and now it works.... Going to update my desktop as soon as I find all its parts and post again if the update works there. |

Alright everyone. I found the solution to the "validation" problem. I encountered it on my work machine today.
The solution is to "enable online certificate validation" in the Java panel inside your Control Panel: ![]()
