Superstorm SANDY-1993 300ce cab
 

i feel for all of those who experienced any losses as a result of the superstorm SANDY.

I have also suffered a loss. My 1993 300ce cabriolet was waiting to be picked up after a nostart condition and finally an OVP replacemnt. I just spent $2,500 replacing hydraulic cylinders.

The shop took on over three feet of water, with numerous cars including mine under water. I am waiting for the insurance company to report and respond.
I am toying with the option of replacing the car with
*1993 300ce cab
* 1994-5 e320 cab
* 2004-5 clk 320 cab
* Toyota Solara convertible
Should I look to avoid the expnsive probability of failing cylinders/ harness issues or go for a newer model car with less chance of the problems listed above
I am looking for advise and opinions.

Go with an E320 Cabriolet, the last proper cabriolet made by Mercedes Benz.

I have the same 300ce cabrio you do, and also a 1999 clk320 convertible. Two different driving experiences: the 300ce is heavy and slow off a dead stop but a great cruiser and beautiful to look at; the clk is smaller inside but quick & nimble, no seat belt extenders but otherwise very comfortable to drive.

I'll bet you can part out that flooded cabriolet, but the electronic modules are most likely toast. Pump should be OK, cylinders, trunk lid, tonneau lid, etc. And the roll bar assembly would likely survive... and the $375 dome light.
